Lá Na gClub Day on 10th May 2009 Members and players Skryne GFC had a great day at Fr McManus Park on Sunday 10th May, where the club held their celebrations for the 125 year anniversary of the GAA. The weather was fantastic and for once this year, there was a bigger call for sun block rather than umbrellas. From 2pm until 4pm, activities were held for the underage section of the club, including mini games, skills trials, penalty shoots and face painting, with refreshments being served all during the day in the clubhouse.
At 4pm the senior 7-a-side got underway. 8 teams took part, with teams being made up of senior players, a player over 40, a player over 30, a minor player, a ladies player, a junior A player and a junior D player. The teams were divided into to groups, with the winners of each group playing each other in the final. There were definitely a few of the over 30 and over 40 players that will be getting requests to come out of retirement after their performances on Sunday!
The final was contested by David Ryans “Navan RFC” and Patrick O’Rourkes “Paddys Players” with Davids team running away with the title, outscoring Paddys players 4-5 to 1-8.
