B League Division 4, Round 9
Skryne lost this B League Div 4 match at home to Ballinlough by 4-8 to 1-9. As Skryne were already safe in this division for another year this last game of the season meant more to our visitors who have now reached the decider of this competition. Although short a number of regulars Skryne fought hard and but for the concession of some slack goals could have made it very difficult for the hot favourites. Add in the fact that we missed a few goal chances ourselves including a penalty in the second half and the scores would have been much closer.
There were some excellent performances from the Blues who were behind at the break by 3-04 to 0-04 but closed to within 4 points of the winners with 10 minutes remaining only for Ballinlough to finish off the game with their last score – a goal – in the final minutes.
Pauric Murphy in defence put in a sterling effort and surely was man of the match. He was well assisted in this regard by the youngsters Oisin Gryson and Daragh Campion. The other minors also showed their mettle in an encouraging performance namely Jason Fox and the two making their debuts at this level Dean Reddy and Jason’s brother Darren. Cian Lynch at midfield made some great runs forward and scored 4 brilliant points from play.
