Donaghamore Ashbourne too Strong For Skryne

Donaghamore Ashbourne 3-17 Skryne 0-8

Premier Football Championship. Division 1 – Round 5.

Skryne struggled to field 15 players for this Premier Div 1 clash away to Donaghamore Ashbourne and therefore struggled on the scoreboard as well. Don/Ash on this occasion were much stronger than the Blues and were on top almost from the start. To compound matters an injury to Cian Reddy very early in the match saw Manager David Harrington being forced into action so as not to spoil a player from our third team who are doing well in their Premier Div 5 Championship.

Skryne began the game brightly and actually scored the first point through full forward Jack Dardis. But that was as good as it got and by half time Don/Ash led by 2-9 to 0-2.

Skryne improved in the second half and could have been much closer on the scoreboard without ever threatening the winners. How strong Don/Ash were can be gauged from the fact that 3-16 of their total came from open play.

Skryne: Des McAvinney. Tommy Kelly, David Rathbourne, Jack Swan. Paddy Wright, Andrew Moore (0-1), Keith Donoghue. Niall Morland (0-1), Aidan Tuite. Jack O’Donnell, Jason Reddy (0-5), Paul Bannon. Cian Reddy, Jack Dardis (0-1), Scott Armstrong.

Subs – David Harrington, Oisin Coyle.
