Skryne were at the receiving end of a three goal beating when they met Navan O’Mahony’s in the Junior A Championship on Sunday evening in Páirc Táilteann. The town side were first of the mark after a minute but Niall Burke cancelled this out a minute later.  With four minutes gone the pattern of the game was set with the first goal of the game and the lead was quickly stretched a minute later.  However Skryne rallied and three points from Brian Smyth , Cian Byrne and Alan Carty had them within a point with eight minutes on the clock.  However with fourteen minutes on the clock O’Mahony’s got their second goal.  Skryne were not out of it yet and three points before half time against one for Navan saw the teams go in at half time with just two points the difference on a score-line of Skryne 0 – 7, Navan O’Mahony’s 2 – 3.

Two quick points in the early minutes of the second period restored a four point advantage for Navan but Jamie Jordan and Brian Smyth cancelled these out on thirty seven and thirty eight minutes.  However by the forty third minute Navan were four points clear again.  Skryne did not give up on the game, but despite prolonged pressure they could not get the scores they needed.  Navan O’Mahony’s wrapped up the game with fifty minutes on the clock with their third goal.  While Skryne had the final say with a point from Niall Burke in time added on, the game ended on a score-line of Skryne 0 – 10 Navan O’Mahony’s 3 – 7.
