What a year it has been for this Minor Panel. What they have achieved is fantastic.The panel of 27 had already achieved being Div 2 Spring League Champions, Seven aside Meath Champions, Div 1 Summer League Champions and made it to the Final of the Div 1 Championship. A panel of which are all nearly eligible for next years Minor team. Any Club in Co Meath would have loved to achieved half of what this Minor team had completed to date for 2015.
Skryne Minors went to Pairc Tailteann on Saturday 24th with a 4:15pm throw in knowing that Summerhill were tough opponents. Summerhill had previously disposed of Dunboyne in their Semi Final while Skryne had seen off St Colmcilles. There was a strong wind blowing towards the O Mahonys Grounds and Summerhill had the aid of it. Summerhill got off to a fantastic start and were kicking points from 45 yards out from all angles. Jason Fox scored a cracker of a goal, as good as you would see in Pairc Tailteann. It boosted the team along with the supporters who traveled in their numbers from Skryne. Summerhill once again dug deep and kept the Point tally going. Half time couldn’t come quick enough as Skryne really had to work hard for every score.
Skryne came out in the second half and the start of the second half was a carbon copy of the first with Summerhill hitting the first point. Skryne had a tough game on their hands but over the next 15 Minutes Skryne kept Summerhill pointless and notched up some fine points courtesy of Michael Doherty, Darragh Campion and Eoin Smyth. Summerhill didn’t panic and in the end ran out five point winners. Well done to the Management and Players who were a credit to their Families and Club. This is a team to watch for in the Future and we wish the lads all the Best for the U17’s & U21’s.
To the Supporters who put up Flags, Posters & Bunting along with travelling in numbers to Pairc Tailteann we are grateful for all the support. We have no doubt that we will need all the Flags again pretty soon so keep them all safe.
