Skryne’s Invitation
to its unique Celebration

Just as the year begins to wrap its autumnal and winter cloaks around us, Skryne Football Club
has planned a celebration to help blow some of those seasonal cob-webs away. Its an occasion
designed to appeal to former players, members, supporters, friends and hopefully – in fact
more than hopefully – to sporting rivals of the past for a night of good food combined with an
environment that spawns a re-awakening of old rivalries and indestructible friendships. A night
for chat of days and matches gone by and those unyielding friendships which only the GAA, as the
sporting and social heartbeat of parishes up and down the land, can realistically inspire.
The event is a unique but very fitting precursor to next year’s hosting of “The Gathering.” It’s a €35
per head dinner in Knightsbrook Hotel, Trim, on Saturday, 17th November, to celebrate the 125th
anniversary of the foundation of Skryne G.F.C. and of its unique record of being a senior club in
Meath for 75 consecutive years.
The dinner – at which speeches will be brief and music will give way to good conversation – will, it
is planned, evoke an environment to attract friend and foe alike. There will be a large gathering of
Skryne people from all over the land – and outside of it as well – to ensure this is a REAL celebration
of momentous years and unforgettable memories. And the prospect that these enthusiastic
supporters may be joined by outriders from Navan O’Mahonys, Walterstown, Kilbride, Trim,
Kells, Seneschalstown, Dunshaughlin, to mention but a few, and many other bastions of Gaelic
football, makes for a heady mixture of a fervent celebration of re-newed friendships and mutual
admiration.
To help ensure a programme to suit all tastes and needs, the Club has negotiated a special
accommodation package with Knightsbrook with bed and full Irish breakfast available at €99 per
person sharing with full use of the hotel’s spa and health club facilities included as well. The hotel’s
accommodation offer can be booked through by contacting the office info@knightsbrook.com or
through the website www.cusackhotels.com.
Should you want tickets, contact a committee member soonest or order on line through the Club’s
website link.
There is also the prospect of a Saturday game of golf, or even a mini competition, for those wishing
to take up the overnight or weekend special offer available from the hotel and details of this will
be posted later.
You don’t want to miss this so book your tickets speedily as numbers are not infinite and the Club
does not want to disappoint anybody on this special occasion.
