Three Goal Simonstown Collect Points in Skryne.

Three second half goals from Simonstown saw them take both points against Skryne in the B League Div 1 match in Skryne on Tuesday evening.  Skryne should have had this match sewn up by half time but poor finishing saw them with only a four point advantage at the break.  They were so dominant in this half that the margin should have seen more than double that advantage.  Two points from Brian Davis and John Morley saw them take an early lead.  Simonstown then got on the scoreboard on fourteen minutes with a point.  The town side should have scored a goal with a quarter gone but a fine full length save from Des McAvinney pushed the ball round the right goalpost for a forty five.  Skryne however pushed on with three more points from Brian Davis(2) and Niall Burke before Simonstown got their second point on twenty four minutes.  John Morley gave the home side a six point to two advantage just before the break.

From the throw in Sean Cassidy made it a five point game in favour of Skryne.  Then things started to go wrong.  Simonstown identified a weakness and started to run the ball down Skryne’s left wing.  The reward was three goals, one from the penalty spot.  Skryne did hit back with three more points from Brian Davis, Adam O’Sullivan and John Morley however two late points from Simonstown secured them the points.  Despite defeat Skryne were well served by Alan Carty and Donie Ryan, and up front Sean Cassidy, John Morley and Brian Davis played well.

Final Score Simonstown 3 – 4 Skryne 0 – 11
