U12 Skryne vs St. Cuthberts

Skryne U12’s played St Cuthberts on Wednesday the 16th April. This was a must win after being beaten by Trim 32-18 in the spring league. Skryne had a panel of 16 with Niall Finnerty out injured and some people away on holidays. We had two teams of 8 in Fr Mc Manus Pk.
On one team was:

Paddy Wright, Jack Swan, Gary Browne, Sam Hawes, Shane Smyth, Alex Grendon, Oisin Keogh, Niall Moreland.

They played exceptional football with 8 wides in the first half. Jack Swan, Gary Browne & Sam Hawes played well in defence while Shane Smtyh & Alex Grendon gave some great balls in to the forward lines where Oisin Keogh & Niall Moreland made no mistake. Paddy Wright was in goals for the first half and had little to do but when called upon his kick-outs were perfect. The half time score was Skryne 14, St Cuthberts 2

The second half got on the way and with a team talk at half time on the poor point taking the lads really listened to what they were told. Oisin Keogh gave a performance in point taking from all angles and Niall Moreland with his midfield partner Shane Smyth covered every blade of grass.

The second team that was playing alongside were also playing really well and showed a great performance. The second team was made up of,

Aaron Murray, Scott Armstrong, Sean Keogh, Killian Cullen, Kristoffer Kinsella, David Rathbourne, Billy Reilly, Kian Reddy.

Aaron Murray’s trusty left foot in goals made the perfect kick outs. Killian Cullen who normally plays as a forward was switched to defence alongside Sean Keogh and Scott Armstrong who played really well. In the midfield, Kristoffer Kinsella & David Rathbourne played well and laid a lot of ball off to the forward line of Billy Reilly & Kian Reddy. It was a tough game and the lads battled hard and did themselves proud. Kian Reddy and Billy Reilly picked off some great points while David & Kristoffer kept the supply of ball into the forward line. It was a tough game.

In the end the final accumulated score was

Skryne….45 points

St Cuthberts….18 Points

Well done to all the players who knew a win would be vital to keep up with the top leaders.

Next match is Navan O Mahony’s away on Wednesday 23rd.
